2
THESSALONIANS 2:7-12
CONDEMNATION:
A
GODLESS EXISTENCE
FOR
THOSE WHO CHOOSE
TO REJECT
JESUS
2 Thessalonians 2:7 For the
mystery of iniquity doth already work: only he who now letteth will let, until
he be taken out of the way.
Lawlessness is
already present in our world, but the man who will embody it, the Antichrist,
is yet to be revealed. The Lord is
holding him back until the appointed time. “Taken out of the way” does not have
to mean physically removed, but could indicate a stepping aside but not gone
from the picture.
2 Thessalonians 2:8 And then
shall that Wicked be revealed, whom the Lord shall consume with the spirit of
his mouth, and shall destroy with the brightness of his coming:
Eventually, the
Antichrist will be revealed and will try to usurp the place of Jesus by
demanding to be worshipped in the temple itself. When Jesus returns to judge,
the same One who breathed life into man will suck the
life out of the Antichrist, his side-kick “the false prophet”, and Satan himself.
2 Thessalonians 2:9 Even him,
whose coming is after the working of Satan with all power and signs and lying
wonders, 10 And with all deceivableness of unrighteousness in them that perish;
because they received not the love of the truth, that they might be saved. 11 And for this cause God
shall send them strong delusion, that they should believe a lie: 12 That they
all might be damned who believed not the truth, but had pleasure in
unrighteousness.
Satan will
empower the Antichrist to do miraculous signs.
Those who have rejected Jesus will continue to be deceived. Because they rejected the selfless love of the sacrificial Lamb of God, Jesus, the Lord
will entrench them in their depraved minds. They will get
what they thought they wanted, a world without God’s restrictions, which is
known as Hell. They will get much more than they bargained for, but it will be too late to change their minds and they will be
unable to change them. The opportunity to turn back will
be forever gone. Many today seem to think Hell is a great big
“party” doing whatever they want, whatever feels good, as in drugs, illicit
sex, etc. Jesus described Hell as
follows:
Mark 9:48 (KJV) Where
their worm dieth not, and the fire is not quenched.
Ponder This:
Hell is a place where there are parasites but no healing from them, not even
the escape of death. Burns are some of the most pain injuries known to man. The
fire will not be quenched, but the person will survive for more pain. This is
the destination for those who persist in rejecting Jesus. Have you trusted Him to deliver you from this
consequence of sin? If so, are you actively sharing the good news with everyone
you know in order to help them to enter Heaven?
